Gorham Principal Takes New Leadership Role at Educate Maine

April 15, 2025

A Gorham elementary school principal will wield her 20-plus years of experience in schools in a new leadership role at Educate Maine.

Jodi Mezzanotte, the principal of Village Elementary School, will become Educate Maine’s new Director of Educator Engagement in June.  Meanwhile, she will join our organization as a consultant while finishing the school year. Educate Maine is delighted to welcome Mezzanotte, who brings years of experience and insight to the role.

“Jodi is a vocal advocate for teachers and will be a great addition to our team,” said Jason Judd, executive director of Educate Maine. “Her years of experience in the field have given her broad understanding of the challenges—and opportunities—for Maine educators.”

In the next few months Mezzanotte will be actively involved in programming and events for the Teach Maine Center and Maine Teacher of the Year, both of which she will oversee in her new role.

Mezzanotte has spent more than two decades working in Maine schools as a K-8 teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent in the communities of Gorham, South Portland, and Westbrook. She is professionally certified in Maine as a K-8 teacher and superintendent. Her bachelor's degree in communications and master's degree in educational leadership are both from the University of Southern Maine.

Mezzanotte serves on the boards of a number of organizations, including Junior Achievement of Maine, the Gorham Business Roundtable, and the USM Educational Leadership Advisory Board.
