Are you eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting? Educate Maine has teamed up with MDI Biological Laboratory to offer an exciting paid opportunity for someone interested in animal care and aquaculture.
MDIBL is hiring for their new Registered Apprenticeship Program for Aquaculture Animal Care Technician. This is ideal for someone seeking an introductory opportunity to a career in laboratory aquaculture, whether transitioning careers, a recent high school or post-secondary graduate, or, on a case-by-case basis, a current student able to work half-time until graduating in 2025.
Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 2,000 hours (1 year full-time) in a specially designed in-house training program at MDI Biological Laboratory, and receive supplemental related instruction as well. Their wages will begin at $17 per hour, increasing with skill progression. They will also receive an industry-recognized, transferable Credential of Value (certificate) upon successful program completion.
