Angela Oechslie, whose leadership of Educate Maine’s Project>Login has helped widen tech learning across Maine and close the equity gap in STEM, was honored for the second year in a row as Microsoft TechSpark fellow.
The fellowship is awarded to leaders from each state whose organizations focus on creating economic opportunities through digital inclusion, digital skilling, digital transformation, and ecosystem building.
“I’m honored to be able to continue this collaboration with Microsoft, which is a huge boost to our work making CS learning accessible to every Mainer,” Oechslie said.
The fellowship provides a $50,000 grant and multiple avenues of support and networking for the fellows, who represent all 50 states.
Project>Login, a signature program of Educate Maine, empowers Maine educators and learners to prepare for the expanding career opportunities related to computer science and information technology. Its projects include Girls Who Code (clubs and camps), K-12 learning events, the CS Summer of Fun for educators and multiple opportunities for teachers and higher-ed practictioners. It also produces an award-winning podcast.
The 2023-2024 national TechSpark Fellows cohort collectively raised over $167 Million in additional funding from other organizations and skilled over 9,000 individuals.
